Binoculars: Must have a mil reticule pattern. This will be a 10x50 or 7x50 ruggedized binocular to provide short range observation for leaders within the battalion. It must be subdued in color. Compass: Must be capable of measuring accurate bearings in mils and degrees. This will be a ruggedized magnetic compass to allow for azimuth determination and land navigation assistance. It must be subdued in color. GPS: This will be a ruggedized, but non-developmental, commercially available Global Positioning System. It must use commercially available batteries.
