Ministry of Planning Frequently asked questions Will there be a census anytime soon? Preparations are being made to complete a census in time for elections in 18-24 months. We are working to modernize the regional offices to facilitate this, but it is a huge task. We need to provide equipment and training. We are working with UNDP to make this happen. What is the status of paying everyone in this ministry to include people outside of Baghdad? As of 10 May, distribution of $20 emergency payment was made to 1000 employees. The Financial Committee, which was recently elected by the ministry, was in charge of distributing the emergency payment to the employees. Starting 13 May, all staff members belonging to the Central Statistical Offices of Anbar, Kurkuk, Salhadin, and Nassariya received their emergency payments from the heads of each office. What is the status of employees returning to work? All Ministry of Planning employees have been asked to report to work at the Al Quds Computer School 10 May. All heads of Central Statistical Offices in the governorates have been asked to report 13 May. When the refurbishment of the back-up office in Mansour is complete the ministry will be able to return to 50 percent efficiency. What is the condition of the databases in the ministry? Although much primary data was lost, we anticipate that most data was backed up. When we have suitable offices and equipment we will begin retrieving it so that analysis and data sharing between ministries can continue. This will require a comprehensive communication network if it is to succeed.
