Summary. This report is the first in a regular series of updates to address the status of the food security pipeline. We project no shortages in April and May rations in view of new procurement by the World Food Program (WFP) and the Ministry of Trade (MOT). CPA's goal is to ensure that a sovereign Iraq has sufficient food basket stocks on hand, plus a three-month buffer, as of July 1. End Summary. 2. These figures represent food security procurement activities as reported by the Oil for Food Coordination Center, the World Food Program, and the Iraqi Ministry of Trade. Scheduled deliveries are those for which shipment confirmation has been received for arrivals before July 1. Planned deliveries are those tenders planned but not yet awarded for arrivals before July 1. Unconfirmed OFF contracts consist of open letters of credit for which shipment confirmation has not been received for arrivals before July 1. 3. Because many figures are tentative, we cannot guarantee that planned deliveries will occur prior to July 1 . 4. Resolving possible shortages : a . Pulses - Pulses will be phased out of the food ration basket in favor of processed canned cheese and tomato paste , resolving the perceived shortage. b. Infant formula - MOT is procuring 6,000 metric tons of formula planned to arrive in July and August . Retroactive distribution will resolve any shortage in July stocks. c . Detergent - MOT is procuring 39 , 000 metric tons scheduled to arrive in July and August . Retroactive distribution will resolve any shortage in July stocks. 5.
