Weekly Update #11 (PDF) Financial Summary #11 (PDF) تقرير رقم 10 (PDF) Accomplishments: Railroad Objectives include: the rehabilitation and repair of damaged transportation systems focusing on the most economically critical networks. Bechtel completed an evaluation of the Iraqi railroad system on June 25. Work on railways is an integrated US-Iraqi effort; Bechtel contributes project management, material and parts while the Iraqi Railway Administration contributes equipment and labor. This approach brings Iraqis into the rebuilding process and lowers project costs. Arabic-English translation of railway specifications for earthwork, reinforced concrete, and buildings is underway. USAID has approved the Bechtel job order in support of CPA’s priorities to repair 72 km of track from Umm Qasr to Shuiaba Junction, near Basrah. Repairs will ensure grain shipments from the seaport to mills are not jeopardized due to faulty track. Last Updated on: January 14, 2005
