The election support team included the mobilization of thousands of Iraqi election staff, many hundred Iraqi civil society organizations and various international partners and experts with decades of experience in transitional elections support worldwide. USAID will continue to support Iraq's Election Commission and Transitional government in their remarkable efforts to consolidate Iraq's evolving democracy. Two cooperative agreements, implemented at the request of the Independent Election Commission of Iraq (IECI), provided an institutional framework for Iraqi and international organizations to field domestic election observers, deliver voter education and implement conflict mitigation programs. The agreements support the IECI's administration of the full transitional election cycle, which includes the January 2005 elections, the October 2005 Constitutional Referendum, and the December 2005 National Assembly Elections. This special Elections Report details the collaboration between Iraqi and USAID supported institutions in their efforts towards: Domestic Observation Voter Education Conflict Mitigation Election Administration For more information on USAID's activities in support of elections in Iraq visit http://www.usaid.gov/iraq/accomplishments/elections.html .
